No soul you say?
The sparrow enjoying the water provided by a city fountain bathing delightedly.
The sparrow drinking deeply from the bubbling valve provided for man’s visual enjoyment, assisting sparrow’s survival.
The sparrow whose every lifting and falling is recorded by the Invisible Divine Eye. Alas, no soul?
But great Love.
The sparrow knows nothing of transgression.
The sparrow, incapable of iniquity.
The punishment he suffers coming only from the whimsy of the storm’s wet fury and the wind’s capriciousness.
No punishment of his small soul.
But great Love and Caring when he falls.
The Invisible Divine Eye sees the sparrow with no soul.
And cares.
How much more does the Invisible Divine Eye see us; whose great gift is eternal soul?
How much more has He provided for us through Living Water?
The water of which we are largely created.
The water that baptizes the soul of man to repentance.
The Living Water that purifies, together with the Divine blood that cleanses sin.
Soul, you say?
Transgression and iniquity with no punishment?
Peace with no penalty?
Wounds with no scars?
And great, incomprehensible Love.
The Invisible Divine Eye sees man and woman with soul.
He speaks to soul.
His voice “as the sound of many waters.” *
Through eyes of pain He forgives.
He cares.
He loves.
How very great is this love for man and woman with soul!
* “And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.”
Revelation 1:15 KJV
